Basic Biblical Knowledge Lesson 4 

The Word of Revelation from Heaven 

 1. The way of religion (teaching) 

The meaning of religion is ‘highest teaching’ and the owner of religion is God. 

John 1: 1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

 2. The elementary teaching and the perfect teaching 

Heb 5:12-14)

12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 

13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 

14 But solid food if for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

➤ Elementary teaching is the law and perfect teaching is the Revelation 

First Coming

- Perfect teaching: the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the Old Testament  
- Elementary teaching: Mosaic law 

Second Coming
- Perfect teaching: the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the New Testament 
- Elementary teaching: the word revealed at the First Coming 

 3. The world, the kingdom of heaven, and hell 

Two kinds of world: spiritual world(invisible), physical world(visible)

According to Genesis 1:26, spiritual world was created first and physical world was created afterwards. The physical world was governed by the spiritual world. 

However, the spiritual world is divided into two. 

Heaven(holy spirit): made of God and his angels
Hell(evil spirit): made of the devil and angels that sinned 

God gives birth to his spiritual children through a true pastor with a seed which is the God's word of truth. 
➞Heaven on earth: true pastor and his organization that are born of God's seed(the truth)

The devil also gives birth to his spiritual children through a false pastor with his seed which is false teachings. 
➞Hell on earth: false pastor and his organization that are born of the devil's seed(false teachings) 

 4. Three kinds of pastors and teachings 

1) Prophetic pastor(prophet): prophecy 

2) Promised pastor(messenger): fulfillment 

3) General pastor(gospel preacher): testifies to Jesus Christ who fulfilled the Old Testament 

➤At the time of fulfillment of prophecies, the way to be saved is to believe and follow the promised pastor who fulfills the prophecies. This is the reason why the promised pastor is the most important. 

 5. A covenant and a new covenant 

1) Ex 19:5-6
The first covenant: made about 3,500 years ago and it was the covenant between God and physical Israel. The blood of animals was taken as a sign of the covenant. 

However Israel worshiped a golden calf made by Aaron and foreign gods at the time of king Solomon ➞ breaking the covenant 

2) Jer 31:31-32
God prophesied a new covenant through prophet Jeremiah about 2,600 years ago  

Heb 8:7) For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 

3) Lk 22:14-20

The new covenant was made through Jesus in his blood with the disciples who accepted Jesus.
