I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 

→ Jesus had come to bring fire on earth 

✅What is the Reality of the Figurative Fire? 

➥ Fire = Word that consumes and judges 

Explanation

1. The Figurative Fire 

⁕Physical Characteristics: hot, consumes, destroys 

① Used to measure weight of things (instrument to judge, and standard of determining things) 

② To measure weight of things, determining them heavy or light 

Jer 5:14)

Therefore this is what the LORD God Almighty says: "Because the people have spoken these words, I will make my words in your mouth a fire and these people the wood it consumes. 

Jer 23:29) Word of God = fire 

Zec 5:1-5) Scroll: curse → consume (judgment)

Is 6:6-7) Fire: lip → evil, atonement for sin (consumes)

Rv 11:5) Lips of two witness: fire → consume devil 

2.  Two Types of Spiritual Fire 

 1) Fire of God: Word of God (truth)

 2) Fire of Satan: Word of Satan (false Truth)

Lv 10:1-2) Unauthorized Fire : which is contrary to God's Comment 

Rv 9:17) Words: mouths → fire 

Prv 24:12) If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done? 

3. The Prophecy and the Fulfillment of the Judgment of Fire 

<Prophecy of Old Testament>

Mal 4:1-2) 

1 "Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them.

2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. 

Mt 3:11-12)

11 "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 

12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire." 

Lk 12:49) Jesus: fire (word) → bring (preach, convey) → to earth (people) 

<Prophecy of New Testament>

2 Pt 3:10-13)

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 

12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 

13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. 

➥Day of Lord: fire → heaven and earth will be destroyed 

Jn 12:48) There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. 

➥Words of Jesus → on last Day: condemnation 

3. Main Points 

1. Figurative Fire = word that consumes and judges

2. Fire of God = words of God 

3. Fire of Satan = words of satan (false truth)

4. Judgment with spiritual Fire = judgment through word
